What is being black ?
In most educational institute, media or a dictionary of any sort would have you believing that black is a person who is African American or who has a African descent within their ancestor, which is supposed to be make them African or black in other culture or better yet the world.
Truth be told most people are not aware of the true black culture like other culture that exist in this world, because we as human being don't take the time to educate ourselves about our own culture , in fact we don't even have an identity like the Asians,Africans,Jews,Hispanics etc because we as a race are more defined than just the term of being categorized as being black. In most dictionary books the black or black person is defined as dark or the oppostie of white or light, as a person who has dark skin and if you go further into it blacks supposed to have nappy hair and also dirty, filthy, discussting creature. During slave era the slave master would call a black person or a African a coon, monkey, jigaboo, spade or the most famous word use even til this very day which is Nigger and even in the urban community among one another use it in a slang as Nigga, not knowing that it still come from the same family and still mean the same which was to down grade us as a whole race that was not good enough as the other culture.
I am a mixed race which is Chinese and Black and even with that being said the black culture is very mixed all the way from slavery to now and truth be told all race are mixed. In today's society we as human beings, parents, teachers etc have to start taken some responsibilty and action when it come to educating the youth about where they come from far as their history. The word nigger came from the Spanish and Portugese, but also slaves from Nigeria, but Americans whom is colored is mixed with alot.
The black culture in today's society have to stand up and embrace all nationality and break that wall and educate one another about each other culture and become united opposed to looking down on a particular race or culture. In the urban community we have to stop given in to the whole system of the black culture when it come to the labeling they like to put on us because that is not who we are as individuals, nor a whole race, we are more than just that we are a universal culture.
